The Elks Recreation Children’s Camp Society was founded to provide camping facilities in the Province of British Columbia for children who might not otherwise have a camping or holiday experience.

The camps were originally designed to accommodate groups of children with special needs. But due to demand, they are now open to any organized group of children under the age of 18. Special arrangements can be made for use of Elks Camps by groups of adults with special needs.

Elks camps are available year-round at no charge to user groups. All facilities are fully accessible and include dormitories, beds, mattresses, and fully functioning kitchens supplied with dishes and utensils. Indoor and outdoor washrooms are both available, and each camp has space for tenting and those wishing to “rough it”.

With resident caretakers on hand to assist groups, Elks Camps are the full experience and are enjoyable for all, with over 4000 children enjoying them annually.

Elks Recreation Children’s Camp Society

The Elks Recreation Children’s Camp Society’s purpose is to provide camping facilities for underprivileged, handicapped and special needs children as well as other groups of children who would not otherwise be able to attend a camp. Children need and should have the opportunity to participate in social interactive activity in an atmosphere that will provide each individual child a chance to expand their horizons.

The camps are supported by generous contributions from Elks Lodges throughout B.C.

The Society’s objectives are;

  • to promote mental, spiritual and physical development for children and youth throughout British Columbia
  • to continue providing camp facilities not available elsewhere for children and to maintain those facilities while building new camps.
